- Poems Prayers & Promises was one of my very first must learn John Denver fingerstyle guitar songs that I just love. It's been a long time coming to get to this point of guitar play, even though I messed up the chording a little the second time around on the refrain. I included this particular video even though it turned out rather dimly lit and unfocused on the fingering..however, more interesting I am sure than watching me. I did change some words intentionally to make the song a little more uniquely meaningful in my life. And oh yeah..fortunately I do realize my vocals are weak and bad, and unfortunately there is not much I can do about it..so if you can bear with it..,for some insane reason I thought maybe somebody might get something out of my JD covers. -blessings
