- From December, 1999 through July, 2001 our Sacred Krishna Cows were boarded across the street at a Beef Farm, where our cow, Cintamani gave birth first to twins, Radhe and Syama on May 4, 2000; and then to Bhima on July 14, 2001 (Bhima was born as a result of one of 7 of the farmers' Red Angus bulls impregnating Cintamani. The farmer later asked us to remove our cows from his farm, when we wrote a letter to the Village Board asking them to give us a religious exemption to the Farm Animal Ordinance, & let us bring our cows across the street to reside at our own home, for the purpose of fulfilling religious and cultural activities with the cows. The farmer was under great community pressure not to help us any longer. The farmer's neighbor indignantly exclaimed to him, (in our presence) These people are practicing THEIR religion on YOUR land! Thus the our cows were expelled from the beef farm, whereupon we brought them to our own property to reside. Meanwhile, we defended ourselves in court from the Village's selective Animal Ordinance, which allows cows in a whole variety of circumstances, but apparently not religious reasons.
