  • Any beach has a certain quality in its emotional horizon. We are more than undressed on a beach and exposure more than our outer skin. We become different in form, different to the viewer to which we are exposed. We are unaware to their eyes. The Sun and the Sea add a quality to us that we are blinded to see. Perhaps it is the glare that moves us. Perhaps it is our solitary feet folding the sand below us. Somehow, our movement in our slowness tags behind us as though our emotions are caught in our shadows and melted by the Sun's heat. We seem predictable and yet we add something and move in random actions and directions. A beach is a hive of activity and while random our form and our lives are in rhythm. France and the French add a romantic and French emotion to this La Rochelle beach on an August afternoon.Graham DuncanA perspective of La Rochelle, Brittany, France and the French from a Scottish and Dundee viewpoint.Film Details:The film was completed in one take and the actual filming length was around 24 minutes uninterupted. Subjects were not following instructions and were filmed as they moved around the beach. Strange how people act normally! Romance of the Romantic.SoleilLunePlageMerLumièreEnfanceEauCielTempsDéfaillanceSolaireNuitJourMouvementBains de merGraham Duncan
