- This lightning strike caused about $2,000 in damages.At 34 seconds into the clip you will hear a snapping sound and see a lightning strike. The snapping sound ocurred a split second before we see the strike. That's because this was a multi-forked strike. The strike we see was about a mile directly in front of the camera, the other fork hit a pole a few hundred feet behind the camera. The charge traveled through the cable line into the house.The snapping we heard was the destruction of my cable amplifier. I also lost several other electronic devices inside the house.
