- When we arrived in Amsterdam on Nov. 17, 2007 it was quit a delight to find out that Santa Clause would be coming to town the very next day. He comes by boat from Spain and holds a parade every year. As a jew this was very, very interesting to say the least but deffinitely a once in a life time experience. By the way, they're called Black Peters and they are there to amuse the kids and hand out these gingerbread buttons. A great time indeed.
